Burger King without Burgers???
The focus of every Church gathering must be the Reason you gather. Priscilla told of a day when she rocked up to Starbucks and they had no hot drinks. Starbucks with no hot drinks??? She was incredulous. (I don't know about you but I associate Starbucks with cold drinks with lots of cream)
She tweeted, "I'm at Starbucks, and they have no hot drinks!" She got a flurry of reply tweets saying, "I was at Burger King, and they had no Burgers!", "I was at KFC and they had no chicken". (this actually sounds familiar!)
As ridiculous as a Burger King without Burgers, and KFC without chicken, so is a gathering of Christians without the presence of Christ.
A religious event does not guarantee the presence of God. Statistics show (she quoted) that about 95% of Churches in America would not notice if God's presence left; they would keep going as if nothing had happened. In John 11, all the Jews were meeting at Jerusalem for Passover but Jesus was no where to be seen. John 11:47-53 the religious leaders of Jesus' day did not handle the presence of Jesus right. Verse 54 says 'therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews'.
Does Jesus walk openly in your services, in your everyday life? Every Christian is a steward (usher) of the presence of God. Are we squelching the work of the Spirit of God because we have ceased being stewards of His presence?
